Today was the first Saturday in two months that Marshall didn't have to work so we decided to make a family day of it and take Jack to the zoo. Although initially Jack was more interested in the strap harnessing him into his stroller, he eventually warmed up to the sights and smells of Riverbanks Zoo. The lions, tigers, and bears were ok, but what really got Jack excited weren't what I would call typical "zoo" animals. The first things he really showed interest in were the exotic fish in the aquarium. He was mesmerized watching the colorful fish swim around and even tried to reach out and touch them. What really made him giggle, though, was watching the goats (yes, I said goats - we managed to wander into a petting zoo) eat out of onlookers' hands. I think they reminded him of Hank, and we all know Jack thinks Hank is hilarious for some reason! We didn't capture it in a picture, but he also really enjoyed washing his hands at the "cleaning station" after several attempts to pet the hungry goats. All in all it was a fun day at the zoo.
Watching the gorilla walk away.... We waited in a line of onlookers for several minutes to take a picture of Jack with the gorilla as he was sitting on the walkway right up next to the glass, but of course he got up to walk away as we approached the front of the line. So this is the shot we got - go figure!
Marshall checking out the fruit bats and reliving some memorable moments from his own life experiences. Tell us how you captured that bat again . . .

Posing in front of the tortoise.

The first thing to really capture Jack's attention . . .
. . . now if he could only capture the fish!

A little unsure of the farm animals at first, but once he got to look at them up close and personal, Jack decided that these furry friends were pretty funny.

This one was taken in front of the flamingos especially for Grammy.

We attempted to get a picture with the elephants for Granddaddy, but it was the end of the day and Jack was more interested in the railing than the exotic animals.
