Tonight we decided to go to the fair - no, not the SC STATE FAIR - the Western Carolina State Fair. That's a fancy way of saying the Aiken Co. fair! It definitely pales in comparison to what we're used to, but overall we had a good time. Jack seemed to enjoy taking in all the sights and sounds of the fair and even got to taste his first funnel cake (they didn't have elephant ears - can you believe that?)! Anna pretty much slept through the whole thing, so I'm not sure if this counts as her first fair experience. We didn't play any games, only rode one ride, and we still ended up spending a fortune! So it was pretty much a typical evening at the fair. Check out the pictures . . .
That little pea pod on Marshall's chest is Anna.

Our first stop was the petting zoo where Jack did a lot of staring and not a whole lot of petting.

He's in a trance checking out all of the animals.

I forget what this really is, but we called it a fuzzy cow.

Jack and the "fuzzy cow" have the same hair do tonight! They also have the same expression on their faces!

Apparently Jack loved the deer the best because when the deer stuck his face through the bars, Jack leaned over and gave him a kiss right on his fuzzy nose! We didn't catch it in a picture though, and yes, we told him that was yucky and not to go around kissing strange animals!

This guy just reminded me of Hank for some reason - maybe it's a combo of the ears and how he's propped up on the gate like he needs to be the center of attention.

Yes folks, this is what they brag about at the Aiken fair . . . not the most exciting attractions, but the CLEANEST!

We bought this lovely dinner for a grand total of . . . $19.25!!!!!

It was worth it though, since the corn dog was a big hit with Jack.

Checking out all the action he's missing out on while having to sit still and eat.

And this is what Anna did while we ate our overpriced corndogs.

Jack was too short to ride most of the rides (even the kiddie rides) so the carousel was about the only choice. He was a little unsure at first, but warmed up to it as it went round and round. I even got a smile one time around when he recognized me on the sidelines.

What? No cotton candy or apple ? Know Jack had a good time even though he was not smiling .
